Youth Voices: ‘Bliss Sick’
Guest Post
Editor’s Note: I read this intriguing piece sent in by a young student and while getting some editorial questions and clarifications in, realised that it may need to stand as is. Part Poem, Part Memoir, triggered by some real-life conversations. See how it speaks to you
Bliss Sick: ‘No one is Entitled to understand You’.
”No one is entitled to understand you.
No one is.
You have to understand that.”
The saying may initially appear to be discourteous but it’s actually the proxima of one’s life. An individual always expects people to understand them, in order for need of affiliation and to maintain equilibrium between work and life; but the misery remains to be ‘Acceptable ‘ and ‘Understandable’.
But we are not always the proxima of other people’s lives.
Just because someone is suffering mentally doesn’t mean the whole world is obliged to help them. It should just be them. We are the universe or main character in others lives. It is not a good thing to be rude and disrespectful of other people just because you are suffering Yourself. Hence there is a thin line of difference between standing up for oneself and being discourteous or disrespectful.
TORIC NOT TOXIC
Both Intrinsic and Extrinsic factors play an important role in defining an individual’s perspectives towards the environment; the values, beliefs, morals and ethics are also the nucleus of this.
But the ‘toxicity’ within one’s self always drags an individual to their downfall. Sometimes it is all in the mind but the absolute answer is to conquer it and make a newer perspective that’s ‘Matter over Mind’; not ‘Mind over Matter’.
The concept of ‘Toric’ (a type of contact lens with different power and focal length) is the only upright solution to it.
The toric contact lens has two lens;
1) One for Distance
2) One for Astigmatism (blurred vision)
These Two concepts give us a lesson that we should (focus) more on our present force of action;
In this type of lens we should not lie with the present i. e. Focus more on Present .
” Yesterday is a “History”;
Tomorrow is a “Mystery”;
But Today is a “Gift” ;
That’s why it is called “Present .”

THE BLISSFUL SICKNESS
People make People. (The ‘sickness’ is a need for affiliation and the fear of losing people is extreme nowadays – the drifting factor can be the Covid-19 scenario where human connectivity was lost in humankind.)
This Blissful sickness is important but in this the need to be accepted in the society, but one’s individuality vanishes.
The fear of losing people is most common in today’s generation .
People Come and People Go.
But the need for affiliation and affirmation is what one wants.
But when the consciousness is more than science and is honest to oneself, belief in oneself than this fear disappears.
If we are true to ourselves, we are true to the World.
ECHOING PEACE
Peace is the main aspect to maintain a harmonious environment; where humans have freedom,
and Peace within oneself without any conflict.
Peace within oneself is important; it only guides an individual for decision-making and
respondent towards both Intrinsic and Extrinsic factors.
Peace can be found if the person is always being Busy Happy with a purpose
There should be some reason to get up in the morning.
Japanese lives revolve around this concept and they function accordingly where there is no idea
of retirement.
And those who discover their purpose (Ikigai, according to Japanese saying)
Have everything they need for a long and joyful journey.
CONCLUSION
When the brain develops ingrained habits it doesn’t need to think anymore but this elicits
a non-functional routine, that is why an individual should focus on developing one’s own bonafides in order to not have the mental workout (which would offer new stimuli and possibly help prevent depression that comes with solitude) in the right place.
Being Mindful Bliss is important rather than Bliss Sick.
